We visited Niagara Falls last May as part of my daughter’s graduation trip. It was truly an awe-inspiring experience and a great way to celebrate this milestone with her. The natural beauty of this iconic place and the sight of millions of gallons of water plunging over the cliffs is simply breathtaking.
We started our day with a Maid of the Mist boat tour. It’s one of the most thrilling ways to experience the falls because it takes you right to the base. They provide free blue ponchos to put over your clothes because there is definitely no staying dry on this tour. As you get closer to the falls, the boat rocks (hold onto your hats and phones) and the mist blows onto the boat and soaks you. It was definitely worth getting a little wet to be able to see the Falls from that perspective.

Next, we made our way over to Prospect Point Observation Tower to get a panoramic view of Horseshoe Bend, Bridal Veil Falls, and the American Falls. The observation tower is located on the American side and is a great place to take in some stunning views. There is an elevator that takes you to the top where you can step out onto the extended walkway. This walkway offers an opportunity to take some great photos or videos, or you can look through the view finders located there.

We were fortunate enough to be able to see Niagara Falls from both the American and Canadian sides. Each side offers a chance to see the falls from different perspectives. The American side allows you to get up close to the falls and feel the mist that’s rising from the crashing waters. The Canadian side allows for a more broader and dramatic view, where you can appreciate the expanse of the falls. Both sides have great walking areas that bring you steps away from the water. There is some debate over which side is best, but honestly you really can’t go wrong visiting either side of the falls.

If you have a chance to visit Niagara Falls, don’t pass it up. The thundering roar of the falls and the rising mist creates such an exciting atmosphere. It is an unforgettable adventure that everyone will enjoy. I know my family of five did. And for an added experience, visit the falls at night and see them lit up in a beautiful display of color.
Travel Tips: Remember that if you travel into Canada you will need a passport. Also the Maid of the Mist boat tour is closed during the winter season.

We set sail in May on the Norwegian Escape for our first ever cruise. It was an unforgettable 7-day Western Caribbean adventure.
We arrived at every port on time, the onboard entertainment and activities were fantastic, and the food was delicious. Every moment was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for a better first cruise. Can’t wait to share all the exciting experiences –

I wanted to do something this year that was active and intentional and that fit with my love for traveling. So, my husband and I decided that we would try to add more hiking into our year. We have hiked all over the country as we have traveled, but this year we wanted it to be more intentional. We debated on how to choose our hikes, but eventually settled on choosing one area and hiking as many trails in that area as we could…. #travelblogger #smokeymountains #hikingthesmokies
